01 / January

Summer at the Cape. Space for the wild.

Start with the coast and vineyards, or combine Kenya’s safari country with Lamu. January rewards travellers who choose their safari region as carefully as their beach.

Cape Town & the Winelands

Cape Town and Franschhoek are usually warm and dry, with summer wind and busy attractions.

Karongwe & the Eastern Cape

Shamwari and Kwandwe offer summer safari with warm days and possible rain. Karongwe is hotter and wetter; green foliage can conceal wildlife, so allow time rather than expecting easy sightings.

Kenya: safari country & coast

Samburu is often relatively dry and hot, while the Mara offers resident wildlife without relying on migration herds. Lamu is warm and humid; sea conditions still determine days on the water.

Livingstone & Victoria Falls

The river is generally recovering from its low season. Rain upstream takes time to reach the Falls; January is no promise of a full curtain.

Considering Kenya Safari & Swahili Coast? Its Tsavo stop is warmer lowland safari country, with rain-sensitive tracks; the Manda Bay coast needs a separate weather and sea-state check from the Mara. Stays are selected with our team.
